NeoRio made its debut in 2009 on October 17th, featuring Basia Irland’s project “Receding/Reseeding” with an icebook launch on the Rio. The event also included presentations from John Bailey, recreation director for the BLM Taos Field Office, Ester Garcia, chairwoman of the board of directors of the San Antonio Del Rio Colorado Land Grant, and Craig Chapman events coordinator for NMWA. The day concluded with a potluck and campfire on the rim and music with Justin Dean and Mark Dudrow. Dutch oven-baked green chile chicken, red chile beef and vegetarian enchiladas were provided for all along with some amazing cakes featuring original paintings of the Rio Grande by John Wenger.  NeoRio events are free and open to all.
