Questa ¡Pollinate! StorySLAM + More

Wild Rivers Visitor Center, Rio Grande del Norte National Monument

PechaKuchaLEVSamLambieWe’re doing it again – having a blowout event at the Wild Rivers outdoor amphitheater! The StorySLAM will be hosted by James Navé, of Taos Storytellers Festival fame, and will begin at 7pm.  Tickets are $12.  Advance tickets are strongly encouraged. This year’s event will build on the success of last year’s PechaKucha; encouraging our Taos County neighbors to “camp out and stay ‘til Sunday” for a beautiful, rugged, sophisticated art and thought-filled time.

Afternoon will include a Paint Out with New Mexico Plein Air Society plus workshops and demos, a FREE guided hike (highlighting pollinators and their favorite local plants), and Pollination-themed TEDX-style Salon are both at 4pm.  Food trucks and booths will offer dinner options, desserts and drinks for sale in a carnival atmosphere. Buy tickets online at: HoldMyTicket.

Celebrate out local and regional artists taking part in an exhibition of small works both traditional and experimental as they explore the meaning, imagery, and outcomes of “Pollination.” The exhibition is sure to be as exciting as our previous two years of hosting art shows as part of our themed Questa Event Series’. The show will also include the educational “Pollination Sensorium” that illustrates the processes of pollination.  Gallery hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 11 – 5 pm. Show is up August 6 – September 25th.

Outdoor Amphitheater, Wild Rivers Visitor Center, Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, Cerro

ute_mtn_view_ Geraint-640We sold out last year, at the PechaKucha at OCHO, so this summer our most popular summer event moves to the Wild Rivers Amphitheater at the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument just west of Questa, on the outskirts of Cerro. Join in an evening of audio-visual shorts and lots of creative thinking on the theme of “light.”  Presenters have 20 slides/20 seconds each to showcase local stories and inspiration. Come explore dramatic hiking trails, pitch your tent and stay ’til Sunday, or come just for the evening and enjoy a free, guided walk, light catered savouries and sweets and a PechaKucha you won’t forget. The walk is from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, locally-sourced dinner starts at 7 pm, show begins at sunset. Tickets are going fast! Reserve your seat and place for dinner (by July 10th) and if you’re from Taos, board the Localogy School Bus for the Special Pecha Kucha Package (entertainment and guide on board – reserve by July 8th).
