We’re doing it again – having a blowout event at the Wild Rivers outdoor amphitheater! The StorySLAM will be hosted by James Navé, of Taos Storytellers Festival fame, and will begin at 7pm.  Tickets are $12.  Advance tickets are strongly encouraged (see below). This year’s event will build on the success of last year’s PechaKucha; encouraging our Taos County neighbors to “camp out and stay ‘til Sunday” for a beautiful, rugged, sophisticated art and thought-filled time.

The day will include a Paint Out with New Mexico Plein Air Society plus workshops and demos, a FREE guided hike (highlighting pollinators and their favorite local plants), and Pollination-themed TEDX-style Salon, both at 4pm.  Food trucks and booths will offer dinner options, desserts and drinks for sale in a carnival atmosphere accompanied by music. Then on to the highlight of the evening, the StorySLAM! Advance tickets for Questa StorySLAM ¡Pollinate! are available online through HoldMyTicket

Questa StorySLAM: 8 Tellers. 8 True Stories. 5 Minutes Each. 5 Judges

What’s a StorySLAM? A StorySLAM is more than a storytelling competition. It’s an invitation to share five minutes of your life with a group of people who appreciate a well-told tale. Audience storytellers take to the stage with real life stories on the theme of the night. For the Questa StorySLAM the theme is “Pollination.” Winners will get a cash prize. Got five minutes? Come and lend an ear, or share an experience.

James-Nave-1The Questa StorySLAM will be 3rd in a summer series of SLAMs held in the Taos area by poet, storyteller and arts entrepreneur, James Navé. He is the director of The Taos Storytelling Festival, The Taos Poetry Festival, and an organizing member of TEDx NewYork Salons.  An early contributor to the creativity renaissance that swept the nation, he co-founded “The Artist’s Way Creativity Camp” in Taos NM with Julia Cameron, 1995-2003. Co-founder of the theater company Poetry Alive!, his energetic performances have graced three national Poetry Slam teams, and his work has appeared in numerous books, journals and magazines.
